Bella is Mad : Mami didn't Listen, tells the story of a young girl cat named Bella, who feels upset and unheard because her mother, though loving and well-meaning, is often too busy to listen to her. Through Bella's natural journey of reflecting on her emotions and expressing herself, she helps her mother see how her words affect her.
This heartfelt story highlights how their commitment to listening to each other fosters open communication and a deeper connection, encouraging families to embrace conversations that build a sense of belonging from a young age.
Mission Statement for Bella is Mad: Mami didn't Listen
The mission of Bella is Mad: Mami didn't Listen is to highlight the profound power of listening within families. In a world that often rushes past moments of connection, this book serves as a reminder that when we truly listen—whether to our children, friends, love ones, or those who care for us —we validate their feelings and show them they are seen, heard, and valued. When people feel truly listened to, they are empowered to recognize their own worth and navigate the world with confidence.
With Bella is Mad, my goal is to encourage parents to begin the practice of attentive listening early in their children’s lives. When children feel heard and loved, they develop a solid foundation of self-worth that doesn't rely on external validation. They learn to trust their own voices, to embrace their emotions, and to form deeper, more meaningful connections with others. By fostering this environment, we can raise children who feel secure in themselves and equipped to build strong, healthy relationships throughout their lives.
Through this book, I hope to inspire a movement towards deeper empathy, compassion, and understanding—because when we listen, we not only nurture our children’s hearts but also create a more connected, compassionate world.
